About UAG
Background
URBAN ARMOR GEAR was founded in 2012 in Orange County, California – the action sports center of the world. Bored with the corporate world and unimpressed by the case offerings at the time, three founders got together and decided to create a case that could provide unrivaled protection for their phones in the most challenging situations.
Het eerste iPhone-hoesje dat UAG ontwikkelde, was voor de iPhone 4 en bevatte UAG's kenmerkende patroon, geïnspireerd op jerrycans. Jerrycans werden voor het eerst populair tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog, gemaakt van plaatstaal om stijfheid en sterkte te creëren, terwijl ze lichtgewicht bleven om vloeistoffen zoals gas en water naar troepen te transporteren. UAG neemt zijn eigen, inmiddels iconische versie van het jerrycan-ontwerp op om dit gevoel van hoogwaardige, militaire sterkte op te roepen dat UAG is gaan vertegenwoordigen. Aanvankelijk waren de verkopen traag en pas toen de Samsung S3 werd gelanceerd, begon de markt op te letten.
Door brute kracht wist UAG een naam voor zichzelf op te bouwen door te adverteren op forums, blogs (herinner je die nog?) en gratis samples weg te geven aan tech-enthousiastelingen. Al snel begon het nieuws zich te verspreiden en kwamen er verhalen binnen van klanten wiens telefoons door UAG waren beschermd na te zijn gevallen van gebouwen, langs muren, overreden door auto's, en erger.
The fun didn’t stop there. As phone manufacturers put out larger and larger devices, the need for protection increased even further. UAG went to great lengths to prove our cases could stand up to the rigors of active lifestyles and embarked on a series of tests to demonstrate it our breakthrough design and functionality.
